Mission:
Mission 9 - Unearthing Life
Location: Throughout Ship
Timeline: MD02 - 0900
O'Connor reviewed the reports from the away team. It was a standard class M planet with animal life, and as far as anyone could tell, no intelligent life. There certainly were no signs of advanced life. It was good, almost too good. While the thought of something being "too good," raised the Captain's eyebrows, she was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Her crew needed some rest and recovery after that last mission. With no signs of inhibition lowering pollen or any other bizarre substances around, the Captain saw no reason not to allow that shore leave.
She hit the comm button on her Captain's chair and addressed the entire ship. =^= This is the Captain. We have found a planet below that has varied environments on an M Class world. I am permitting everyone 48 hours of shore leave. We will leave this planet in 72 hours. This should allow for some overlap on everyone's shore leave so that you can get some well deserved enjoyment with a variety of people and places. You may make requests for shifts to the XO who will approve or alter requests in accordance with the ship's needs for crew on board. Enjoy the rest. O'Connor out. =^=
[Stallworth Quarters]
Stallworth would delight in some time away from the ship; having gone to her quarters after the reports and other required Post Mission rigmarole was completed.
Of course 'Roughing It' is not something a Modern Southern Girl is unaccustomed to but she prefers something more than just Camping. Then again it would be best to feel actual ground under her feet. She would be hard pressed to get a Mobile Habitation Unit with the large portion of the crew wanting Shore leave.
It would be wise to be near the majority of the crew, being alone does tend to have it's own set of problems. A large 'Pop-Up' style tent would suffice with a break-down cot and small weekend style bag to just be prepared. Being better than average at Cooking; she does mean the manual process of preparing food, might be helpful in the common area for the planet side actions.
Stallworth ditched her coat neatly, the skirt was unzipped as she approach her closest to make the Initial landing wardrobe choices. Being in her non-regulations attire would be 'Out of uniform, but then it is time for recreation. She might even remember her Badminton kit to get some people into a friendly game while away?
Looking forward to being on 'a Weekend Outing' was just what the Doctor ordered.
[Bridge]
After the captain made her announcement, Amaya turned to her. "I would prefer to spend my shore leave on the ship. Feel free to go down for some shore leave of your own, Captain."
O'Connor looked over Amaya quizzically. "Is that a fact? I would have thought that you would want to take the opportunity to beam down with our Security Chief. Did the pollen cause something that you did not desire between the two of you?"
"Not at all." She and Cyrus were still good, but she wasn't going to discuss her relationship with the captain. "I had enough of forests for now. I'll enjoy staying here and relaxing. Besides, someone needs to be on duty."
"There are mountains and water and even deserts. So, you don't need to go to a forest," the Captain responded simply. She then fully realized what her XO said and furrowed her eyebrows. "Are you insisting that I take shoreleave?"
Amaya raised an eyebrow. "Why not? You're insisting that I do. And shore leave is for everyone. Even a captain deserves a few hours away from her ship."
"Because I had plenty of time getting action down on the Avian planet." She gave Amaya a crooked smile. "I even got to fire a phaser once or twice."
"So, you're basically saying you want me to go down to the planet?" Amaya asked.
"You can do as you wish," O'Connor responded with a laxadasical wave of her hand. "It is your shoreleave."
"Thank you," Amaya said with a warm smile. She knew it was, but she didn't want to get on the captain's bad side.
Cyrus stood at the tactical console on the bridge, every once in a while looking at a PADD with details of what was on the planet's surface, looking through a list of areas to visit. As he scrolled through a few secluded and beautiful spots he marked as interesting. As he caught the conversation between Amaya and Captain O'Connor he let out a sigh, before turning off the PADD and calling over an ensign to take it away. As he checked the tactical console one more time he determined, shove leave was best left to other members of security and he had too much work to catch up on.
Amaya glanced over at Cyrus. She hoped to spend time with him during shore leave. It would probably be a good idea to ask him if he wanted to go down to the planet.
She walked over to Cyrus' station. "Do you have any plans for shore leave?"
Cyrus smiled, allowing a slight chuckle to escape his lips, before answering. "I won't lie." He said as he locked eyes with her. "I had a few places in mind, but hearing you weren't interested in heading down, it wasn't a priority. If you have no interest in heading down and have other things in mind you want to do, then I can leave the shore leave to officers in my department who want to take it. I am sure I can find something to do up here?"
"Honestly, after what happened on the last trip, I wouldn't mind if we stay here for shore leave and send everyone planetside. But I'm also okay going down if you want to. What matters most to me is that we spend time together. That's more important to me."
Cyrus looked around for a minute, before leaning forward a bit, in order to lower his voice to attempt a private conversation. "I get it, Maya. Which is why I don't want you to feel obligated because I was planning for it. After our little adventure, it makes sense you'd want to give places like that a break and keep to places with more people and a little more tech savvy world." He let out a soft laugh and placed his hand on hers in a subtle way. "We can find plenty of things to do together on board and probably have just as much fun." He gave her another smile. "Especially, when its together."
Amaya smiled back. "Yes." It meant a lot that he understood her hesitation about going back to a planet right now. Soft enough so that only he could hear, she added, "Maybe we could start by spending time together here first, then take a trip down to the planet? I think I might feel a little better about it then." She didn't want him to miss the opportunity, and she hoped she'd feel less wary by then.
"Sounds like the best idea." Cyrus whispered back softly, his index finger slowly stroking the top of her hand. 'I don't know how much fun we'll have without Romulans and Big Birds chasing us, but I am sure we'll manage."
"Yes. I think we'll manage just fine." But now it was time for Amaya to get back to work because she was sure O'Connor was aware of their conversation.
Kailani listened to what others were saying with a small smirk on her face. She didn't really know everyone's personal business, but she was sort of amused. She grinned over at Drake. "What sort of beaches do you think we can find?"
"I don't know, but if there is no intelligent life down there except us, I think we should find a place to surf.... Then again, we could always find a place to walk and explore. Maybe we could even find a cave to spelunk in." Drake's devious smile indicated that spelunking was not what he had in mind.
"Or maybe just lie out on the beach?" Kailani said. "I'm a lazy girl." She wasn't really. But she thought it might be nice to be this time.
Drake was not certain that sounded like Kailani. Was that some sort of invitation? Well, they did have a planet to themselves according to all the scans. "Perhaps we should bring some picnic supplies? A bottle of alcohol? A couple of candles and enjoy a night under the stars under said beach?"
"An afternoon and a night," Kailani suggested. She smiled pleasantly, a little amused at Drake's apparent surprise.
"Maybe we should also bring some blankets? Who knows how cold it will get down there?" His grin became more mischievous as he suggested, "We may need each other's body heat to keep warm, you know...."
"Towels," Kailani said, "but we need to find somewhere warm."
"I think that I can navigate that," Drake replied with a small smirk. "Let's see what readings we can find and pick a place on the planet."
Kailani worked her controls and stated a set of coordinates. "What do you think?"
"Looks like you plotted a good course to me, Kailani. I'm ready to navigate it. Let's make it happen."
"It's a date." She grinned.
[Reeves Quarters]
When Owen heard the Captain's order, he knew exactly where he wanted to go. During the Away Mission he'd discovered a white sand beach. Always having an affinity for water, he planed to spend some of his scuba diving in what he hoped was warm, clear blue water.
Putting on his swim trunks, he grabbed his SCUBA gear from his cupboard. He checked that it was in working order, before putting on a t-shirt and sandals.
He prepared a satchel with food and water, and headed to the nearest transporter room.
Axel looked forward to some time upon the planet below. He had watched with some interest the exchange between Amaya and Cyrus. HE wondered about that, she was straight with him about her seeing someone. He turned to Captain O'Connor.
"It would prove to be good to enjoy the natural air without the fear of pollen in the mix. Besides...." Axel stopped there. He was about to challenge the captain, then he decided to finish his thoughts. "I'd like to see just how fast you can run on natural ground." having a small grin.
"I bet you would," O'Connor replied with a wry laugh. What was it about this guy always challenging her?

[Transporter Room]
Stallworth was ready to get her time started , pulling a slightly larger rolling bag and her field Medical Bag slung over a shoulder.
"A lady never travels light, could forget somethin' so important that way yew know?" Stallworth said as she moved towards the pad, her 'luggage would need a 2nd pad to properly beam down.
Like any lady of substance she had checked aheaAd and timed her departure for a time when her 'tent dwelling and the Field Kitchen would be set-up and ready to receive her of course.
Beaming down to the surface with in close proximity to both. Stallworth had larger wheels on her rolling bag to adapt to less technical areas; what some might call 'roughing it.'
She moved towards her assigned dwelling with a mind to check the field kitchen stock abundance; after all, how could she beat a kindly path to the men's stomachs if she did not know what she had to work with for meals?
Axel once they were dismissed headed to his quarters to pack some things for shoreleave. He was looking forward to this.

[Main Engineering]
The room was buzzing with the excitment from the crew as they seemed energized about the upcoming shoreleave. Meanwhile Glenn was sat back in his chair, feet up on the console, hands behind his head and his eyes shut.
"Come on Glenn!" Sistine complained. "At least be somewhat happy that we're getting shoreleave!"
Glenn lazily opened an eyebrow. "Whats so exciting about going down to a planet?" he yawned. "I mean it'll only end up with something going wrong. Someone will go missing, someone will get hurt and then we'll all have to pack up and come back to the ship anyways. At least with everyone gone I might be able to get a decent nap in..."
Sistine scrunched her face and turned away. A sly smile then spread across her face. "Fine. But don't complain when you're stuck up here and not enjoying it down there. I've got plans anyways. There's some beautiful beaches down there I want to visit. Maybe do some swimming."
"Woah wait a moment." Glenn said his legs swinging down back to the floor. "Did you say you were going to the beach? And you plan on swimming? Does that mean..."
"I guess if you're so adament on staying here. You won't get to see me in that Bikini I have." Sistine said holding her head high. "Shame."
"Woah woah. Wait a moment. You never mentioned THAT!" Glenn said. He scratched his head and looked over at Ensign Johnson. "Oi Johnson. I need you to look over things here!"
"Huh... What?! But sir! What about shoreleave..."
Glenn jumped out of his chair and placed a hand on the other mans shoulder. He lowered his mouth to the other mans ear. "Listen. Look at White Cat over there..." he whispered.
"You mean Lieutenant Fibel..."
"Yes! Obviously you dummy!" Glenn responded. "Now, imagine her on a beach in a stunning white Bikini. All that skin showing. The legs, the midriff, everything. Don't you think thats a beautiful sight that a man like me should see?!"
"Erm..."
"I know you'd be a good sport!" Glenn said as he slapped Johnson on the back. "Hold the fort for me. I owe you one. After all, this is for science!"
"For science?" Sistine questioned.
"Indeed. The science of seeing you in that Bikini! Pack your things white cat! We're going to the beach!" he announced as he skipped out of the engine room and towards his quarters.
Sistine sighed. "He's far too easy to manipulate..." she sighed. "Why do I like him..." she questioned herself. She left the engine room, her feet shuffling slightly. "Suddenly, this might have been a bit of a crappy idea..." she blushed.
