| Physical Description | Harris is a tall lumbering kind of a man. His face betrays all of his emotion, when he is happy his entire face smiles, and when he is angered the opposite is also true. He is imposing with a strong physique. He keeps a salt and pepper goatee in the french style. He has also been known to be a big cuddly teddy bear. He has a tattoo of his homeworld on his right bicep. Harris has thick wavy hair that is salt and pepper in color. It was originally black. |

| General Overview | At first glance Harris seems to be your typical Capellan. Respecting combat before all else, however, that is the image he likes to project especially to those serving under his command. His time with Starfleet has taught him to respect loyalty, and friendship, and how those traits could be beneficial as well. When off duty he is relaxed, enjoying his drink and card games. He is exceptionally proud of his heritage and will speak about Capellan life to anyone who is willing to listen. He prefers to show his culture through song and stories rather than just speaking. When his loyalty and trust is earned he defends those that have earned it fiercely. He typically leads from the front lines. It has been said about Harris that those serving under his command may not like him, but they would do anything for him. | |

| Personal History | Harris was born on Capella IV in the Earth year of 2236. His father was a sought after Biologist and his mother a Botanist/farmer and housewife. He was the second of four and as such got the brunt of his parent’s ire when they were angry. Harris' older sister is an artist and is sought after by many suitors. His younger brother was the warrior that his dad always wanted where Harris was average in the ways of combat. Harris' younger sister is the apple of her father's eye, and her mother's ideal Capellan woman. Fierce, talented, smart, and lethal what more could a mother ask for. So Harris took a relaxed approach to his life, the way he saw it if he had to be the wrong one, might as well have a reason to be wrong. His parents made sure that he attended school and was trained in the ways of combat. It was here that his fascination with the Capellan culture actually sparked. He learned that your family is not just you parents and siblings etc. It is your whole tribe and in that thought his entire outlook reversed. Harris Zim became a model Capellan, albeit more of a leader than a fighter. Most of Harris' family wanted him to join the CDF, as his leadership qualities would take him far. However, he felt that Capellans needed to take a larger place in the galaxy. Harris felt that everything that made a Capellan should be shared with the world. This was a policy that his parents were very much against. They arrived at a compromise and Harris enlisted in the personal guard of the Teer. It was in this guard that Harris excelled. His leadership and strategic skill played well in planning the security for the Teer. This further changed when Zim was 31 years old in the year 2267. It was in this year that Captain James Kirk and the USS Enterprise came to Capella IV. They fought valiantly and side by side with the Capellans to repel an invasion and subversion from the Klingons. When this was over Harris had a new respect for the Humans and wanted to learn more about them. After this encoounter The Federation had proposed a treaty in which they would be allowed to mine on Capella and in turns the Capellans would be assisted in advancing their technology. Due to the early contact with this race Starfleet felt that the Prime Directive did not apply and agreed to assist the Capellans in building warp capable ships. Thusly the Capellan Defense Force or CDF was born. Harris thought that the treaty was a tad unfair at first. However, he learned all he could about the members of Starfleet and helped build the ships. Fourteen years later Zim felt that it had come time for Starfleet to give the Capellans more. Most of the leaders disagreed, however the Teer agreed and that was all that mattered. A plan was formed to send three Capellans to Starfleet to learn all they could and report back. Due to his immense loyalty Harris Zim was one of those chosen for this mission. In 2270 Harris met Jeanne Johnson the woman who would become his wife. She was a striking and formidable woman everything a Capellan would want in a mate. The two fell in love right away and dated. In June of 2271 they were married on Capella IV in a traditional ceremony. Their first child Rose Beth would be born in 2272. After six months of negotiations Starfleet agreed to the idea of Capellans joining the fleet. So in 2282 Harris was sent to Earth and Starfleet Academy. His initial thought about the officer's life was that it was soft. There was not enough training and too many soft beds. However, he soldiered on. In September of 2282 Harris arrived on Earth to begin the Academy. His roommate was a Tellarite named Xerxes and they got along famously. They spent many night exchanging stories. This is what Harris craved the knowledge of other beings. Capellan culture was very isolationist. Due to his training on the home world Harris was sent into the Security and Tactical track within the Academy. During his time at the Academy Harris would come to specialize in hand to hand combat, and find that he has a head for strategy and leadership. In June of 2286 at the age of fifty Harris is given the rank of Ensign upon graduation of the Academy. He is appointed as a Tactical Officer aboard the USS Tudor. Upon arrival aboard the Tudor Harris met a man named Eric Watson who was the CSTO. Eric would come to mentor the young officer. Eric taught Zim to temper the Capellan anger with a dash of humility and solitude. Eric and Harris became the closest of friends to the point that Harris was the best man at Eric's wedding. In September of 2291 Zim received his first real promotion, for valorous service to the USS Tudor. He was given the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. To this day he has not forgotten that first promotion. He was also given a new position aboard the ship, that of Master at Arms. Harris’ time aboard the Tudor would become some of the most memorable as he received accolade after accolade. In 2291 tensions were beginning to flair all over Federation space. The Capellan was a sought after tactician as it was known to be the specialty of his people. Harris was transferred to the USS Sutherland to serve as Tactical Officer Weapons Specialist. It was at this time that he sent his first message home with updates about his doings and the people he served with. Harris was told that Capella would be looking into joining the Federation. To this end his new mission was to decide if they were allies worthy of the Capellans. In 2293 at the behest of his wife Zim manages to get a posting on a Starfleet Listening Post on the Klingon border. This was a relatively boring post for Harris. However, it allowed him time with his wife and children. Two years after obtaining this posting Harris is promoted to Lieutenant. The promotion came as he was instrumental in defeating a cloaked Klingon vessel that threatened the listening post. He used a technique that had been developed by scientists on his world. For original thinking Captain Timothy Jenkins granted his promotion. In 2296 Zim wanted to return to the stars but his wife wanted a husband. She was sick of raising the kids by herself while he gallivanted all over the galaxy. The two were divorced when Harris went behind her back and requested a transfer. He is assigned as the Assistant Chief Security of the USS America. The Capellan was well on his way to achieving his goal of spreading the Capellan culture however his mist difficult challenge was yet to come. As well as completing his mission for his people with regular reports to his homeworld. Zim knew that the crew of the America had no idea what they were in store for. |
