| Personal History | Glenn had a fairly standard childhood, he was vastly intelligent but the problem was he could never be motivated. Growing up on Earth, with both parents in Starfleet he was primarily raised by his Aunt. However she wasn't exactly the best parent. Both his parents would see him in between assignments and eventually forced him in his teen years to follow in their footsteps into Starfleet. He didn't want to. But he had nothing better to do. He had spent some of his teen years playing with cars in his spare time. He was a fairly handy guy when he wanted to be. He found he could do good with Engineering stuff so went for that. He found it was easy for him to grasp, he found some motivation to do what ne needed to do. He did manage to get through the academy, but just barely. He was assigned to the USS Lexington as an engineering officer. He wasn't really noticed, he was often late for his shift and his uniform was often messy. He was far from an ideal officer. He was on report several times, not that he seemed to care. However what always saved him was when he was pushed to do well, he actually was a very good engineer with the right skills and rather competant when he wants to. He managed to somehow gain a promotion when he was reassigned to the USS Ajax, a new Excelsior Class as its assistant chief engineer. He wasn't too fussed, it just gave him more work to do. However soon he found out that Captain Henderson was far from lax. He pushed Glenn to do well and often had goes at him for being lazy. Glenn however only really did what he wanted to when he wanted to. His carefree relaxed nature got him into trouble a lot, and pushed back on the promotion list a fair few times. Once again the only thing that saved him was his actual skills. However, after four years on the Ajax, Captain Henderson wanted him gone. He put Glenn in for promotion to full Lieutenant, that way he could be Chief Engineer on another ship and away from his. Glenn then found himself assigned to the USS America, an old Constitution Class Vessel. He didn't mind being the Chief Engineer. He was qualified, plus with his own department he could run it how he liked and with an older ship that wasn't one of Starfleets newest no doubt it would be out of the way more, this giving him an easy ride for now. |
