Mission: Mission 8 - A Blast from the Past
Location: Lt. (jg) Adams Quarters
Timeline: 2296/03/12 0530

Previously: When the morning came, they were still laying in bed, holding each other.

Continuing: John brushed the hair out of her eyes as she lay sleeping. He was watching her sleep....breathing softly.

She was warm and relaxed, and felt a pleasing heat pressed against her back. Fingers running through her hair brought Cara back to a slow consciousness as the night replayed itself in her minds eye. She felt a bit of a blush creep up as she stretched, but stayed quiet.

John ran his fingers slowly up her thigh, along her derriere, up her sides, up her arm, then along her neck.

A shiver ran down her back and when he finally got to her neck, she bunched her shoulders up and quit pretending to still be a sleep. "That tickles..."

He kissed her should. "Couldn't help myself...your skin is so soft." He ran his hand along her hip.

Wiggling slightly - after all who wouldn't - Cara rolled over and turned to face him. "Smooth. Smoother than I can be without a cup of coffee in the morning."

John got out of bed, naked, and walked to the drink dispenser and got her a coffee, which he handed to her when he returned.

The scientist made an appreciative noise in the back of her throat as she sat up and took the mug, far more concerned with the brew than her own modesty. It was debatable as to if the appreciation was for the view, or the coffee.

John laid back in the bed, hand on her back. "Last night....was fantastic."

Coveting the coffee, Cara had her eyes mostly closed and she nodded her head. "I'm certainly not complaining."

"In that case, why don't you move in with me, so we can have more of last night." He held his breath until she responded.

The redhead's eyes snapped open as she seemed to freeze in place, the mug resting against lips still ever so slightly swollen from the previous evenings activities. "Why the need to move in. I'm not saying no, I'm asking why," Cara clarified as she lowered her cup. "Our quarters are on the same deck and this is still...relatively new."

"Because...I'd like to be with you as often as I can. Or would you rather sneak around from quarters to quarters, so no one would be the wiser?" John replied. "And...if living together works out....then I want to marry you."

Cara was grateful that she had not yet pull the coffee mug back to her lips, because hearing that would have lead to a rather undignified spit take. "Wow." She blinked, rappidly. "It's like we're both reading the same book, but you are chapters ahead of me."

"Just the way I am." He ran his fingers down her spine. "I fell in love with quickly.....now we had sex.....then maybe living together....and...eventually, hopefully....marriage." He smiled at her. "This is my style...run head long into danger and hope it works out."

Rolling her eyes a bit, Cara tried to hide as much of herself behind the mug of coffee as she could. "I like you John. Obviously I like you enough to have woken up here and not bolted for the door. And I respect ye enough to be honest, because you're worth my honesty. But I don't move as fast as you. I'm willing to see how it goes but dinnae expect me ta be running down the aisle in a few weeks."

John sat up and started kissing her shoulder. "As long as you keep sleeping with me, I will wait for as long as it takes."

That deserved a swat. It earned an almost exasperated giggle instead. "Men," she said softly, twisting to press her lips to his temple. "I'm sure I can manage that at least, for now."

He pulled her back down to the bed. "Now...where were we before you needed your coffee?"

---

In the end, Ross would have just enough time to make it to the bridge for the start of the shift. Even if she had to take the coffee to go.
