Mission: Mission 8 - A Blast from the Past
Location: Security Office

Adams tapped a button on his computer.

"Security report, Lieutenant Adams recording. A security detail, plus myself, escorted the Avians to he hanger bay where their ship stood waiting. Repairs were finished, and the aliens headed to their ship. When they first came aboard, the captain asked me to meet them at the airlock. Regulations dictate that a security two man team accompany me. When we reached the air lock, when I activated the controls, when the aliens saw us, they assumed we were arresting them. Immediately I tried to calm them, by saying that whenever we meet new species, we always have an honor guard greet them. When I would speak with them, I used a calm voice, so as not to frighten them. I gave them a quick tour of the ship, avoiding the sensitive areas of the ship, and we ended up at guest quarters. I opened the doors, and invited them in. To show there was no danger, I entered first. Cautiously, they entered. While the two security officers waited outside, I showed them the quarters. We chatted for awhile. It was obvious that they were brainwashed, probably by the Romulans, to think that we were going to either throw them in prision or kill them outright."

John sipped some tea.

"They seemed puzzled by the room, so I asked if they needed anything. They said they wanted perches and bowls for various fruits. I contacted the quartermaster and asked them for a team to build the perches and find some bowls. The quartermaster probably thought I was crazy, but eventually, a team showed and and started placing the perches. I took the aliens into another room so they wouldn't be scared of the noise. While we waited, I started asking them about their planet, have they met anyother species, and how they developed warp drive. They told me about their planet, but avoided answering about other species and their warp drive. For the next 15 minutes, we made small talk. I believe that they were geetting used to me, and I felt there was a beginning of some mutual trust developing."

He took another sip.

"Finally the quartermaster team finished and I had the aliens return to the main room to see what was built. They were suprised, and they quickly explored the perches, and started to climb on them. I had the chef bring some fruits for them. All and all, I think they were very happy with what they have experienced while on board. For the time they were here, I made an effort to visit them. End of report."

Adams tapped a button and the report was filed, with a copy going to the captain and first officer.
