The first thing Amaya noticed was the quiet. There was no alarm, no vibration, no engine. She opened her eyes, then closed them again as it gave her a headache. She remembered Cyrus' last words, then his struggle to get them down safely. "Cyrus?" She was laying on the deck and her body ached, but she didn't think there was any real damage. What she needed to know first was that Cyrus was okay.
"I'm here." Cyrus's voice came from inside the seemingly nowhere. Eventually, from the corner of her eye, she could see movement and a figure approaching. However, the touch of his hand on hers, would put her as ease. "I'm here, Maya. Stay still." He positioned himself so that she could see him, keeping his hand on hers, as he continued to explain their situation. "We crashed on the planet. Shuttle isn't in the best condition, but I am doing what I can to gather as much stuff as possible. I can tell you, for certain, we were forced down. It wasn't an accident. So, we need to get as much as we can and get moving." He took a moment to look around before looking back to her. "The Birdies didn't exactly give us permission to land and, whoever is responsible for forcing us down, may want to find us to make sure the job was done fully." He gave her a smile before asking. "Where is the pain?"
She squeezed his hand to let him know she was glad he was alive and with her. "Hard to say. My first thought when I came to was to find out if you were okay." She smiled, but it quickly turned into a wince. "I may have just landed hard. Head hurts, but so does the rest of me." She paused to try and determine if she'd broken anything. "How are you?"
"Nothing I can't manage with." He replied as he looked around for a moment and took a deep breath. "Maya... as much as I would like to fix you up here, we don't have time. Tactically speaking it's best we get moving. A crashed shuttle, while safe, is still a dangerous place to stay when we may have a target on us. I've managed to collect the emergency beacon some supplies, but we have to move. So... I am going to do something to take your pain away. I don't do it often, but you will forgive me if I don't bother with the whole story right now." He grasped her hand with one and place his other on her head. "In the long run... this will hurt me more... but my body will deal with it much faster than yours."
As he closed his eyes there was an odd feeling that would come over Amaya. Almost like a small stat of euphoria because she felt the pain that she sustained from the crash behind to fade. Slowly, but surely, the pain began to ease leaving her without any and feeling like she hadn't been in a crash at all. However, the pain was not completely gone, in a sense. Cyrus, like his people have the ability to do, only transferred it over to himself. He was overtaken by it, at first, but because his body heals differently it was nothing he couldn't handle. There was something else. Something unpredictable that just happened. Perhaps it was because of his ability or species, or maybe it was Amaya's species, but something was established between the both of them that neither of them saw coming. A connection. Not just one of admiration or romance, but a mental link that now connected them.
Cyrus eased his grip on her hand as he slowly moved the one on her head away. He took a moment to push passed the pain he just acquired and opened his eyes, looking to Amaya with a smile, before asking softly. "Now... how do you feel?"
"Better. But you? Are you really okay?" She felt his pain level increase as hers decreased, and it concerned her. Yes, she was grateful for the relief, and they did need to get to somewhere safer, but she didn't want it at the expense of his own health. There was also a sudden awareness of him on a level she'd never experienced before. It was not like a bonding. She was already forming a bond with him. This was something...more. Was it a side effect of whatever he'd done to heal her? She wanted to ask, but this was neither the time nor the place. Maybe once they got somewhere safer.
She held up a hand. "Could you help me stand, please? I'm a bit wobbly still." She let him know through this new bond that she was okay, and grateful. She just needed this extra help. She was picking up a lot from him, and about him. She wondered if he was doing the same. She had to admit--at least to herself--that she kinda liked it.
Together they gathered the supplies they'd need and left the shuttle.
