[PREVIOUSLY]

"Won't know until we get down there." Cyrus replied, smiling a bit, as he added the necessary spices into the taller pot, after uncovering it to place the lid in the sink. He grabbed a wooden spoon and began to stir in the spices. "I am hoping for an easy run, but I am also preparing for a conflict. We can't be so sure." He finally smiled as he stepped away from the pot. "Abracadabra... Presto Magic-Oh. I present to you, Slum Noodles in Pantry Sauce."

Cyrus turned to Amaya and smirked a bit. "My brother used to make this all the time, for me and my twin sister, when my mom was out..." He hesitated slightly before saying. "Working. He used to say: 'You grab what you want from a fancy restaurant to a street vender, but nothing warms the belly better than some home cooked Slum Noodles and Pantry Sauce.' Of course, we usually meant he probably didn't have enough for takeout and we didn't have much for something bigger." He walked over and took her plate, before saying. "I hope you like it."

"It smells wonderful." She smiled. "I like things a little spicy. Except maybe shuttle trips where we're expecting Romulans."

"Shush." Cyrus said, bringing an index finger to his lips before turning to the pot. "Slum Noodle Tradition: Never talk work while eating Slum Noodles. Bad karma. Very bad karma."

"My apologies. I will only talk about the sexy cook. And his cat."

Cyrus turned his head, smirking. "You're catching on. You've managed to stumble into another Slum Noodle Tradition. Are you sure this is your first time eating these?"

"First, but hopefully not last." She turned to the cat. "As long as you didn't burn the sauce, that is."

Cyrus began to remove the pasta like noodles from the pot, placing them on the plate he held with the other hand. The noodles seemed to be a mixture of three different kinds of pasta, as if he had used the remains of three different boxes in order to throw it away. However, the smell alone was pleasant and fetching, as if it was tasty all on its own. Soon he added the sauce, another good aroma, which seemed to bring it all together. He spread the sauce in the middle, swirling the first amount to make sure it covered a bit of the noodles surround it, before adding another spoonful in the middle. Cyrus finally brought the plate back to the table, placing it down in front of her, before putting a dinner roll by it. "Dinner, à la Jericho."

She inhaled appreciatively. "You, Mr. Jericho, are a man of many talents."

"You have no idea." Cyrus winked at her, before he grabbed his plate and began to serve himself. "I am eager to hear what you think of it. Don't wait on me."

She nodded and took a bite, chewing slowly to savor it. "That," she said when she swallowed, "Is amazing. I can see why it's so popular in your family."

"My mom taught my brother, my brother taught me and my sister, and we can pass it on." Cyrus finished making his plate before placing it on the table. "Right now... Gypsy is the only one I taught it to. But... as a cat... I imagine she won't have much use for it." He added a bit of a chuckle before grabbing a bowl covered by a clean cloth and proceeded to put it down on the table. "Before I forget... Salad." He removed the cloth and tossed it back onto the counter. "Nothing special about this one... just salad." He finally sat down in front of his plate, reaching for a dinner roll. "Sorry. All my presentation went into the Slum Noodles."

"Good. Everyone has to have some flaws," she teased, putting some salad on the plate before taking another bite of pasta. She hoped, in time, he'd teach her the recipe.

Cyrus chuckled a bit, putting some food on his fork, before adding. "I am certainly flawed." He said softly, taking a bite of his food before saying aloud. "Gets better every time I make it." He smiled happily, pleased with the results of his dinner, as he began to eat.

Eventually, the two of them shared the meal and stories. Cyrus being vague when it came to bits and pieces about his homeworld. It wasn't that he didn't trust her, he just, wasn't sure how she would react. Deciding it best to keep it close until he was comfortable to put it out there.

When it was over, Cyrus and Amaya remained at the table, pastries and ice cream in front of them. "Coffee?" He would ask as he stood up from his chair. "I brought this blend from home. It's pretty good if you want to try it? I also have the standard one they give you if you prefer that one?"

"Actually, I prefer herb tea, if you have it." She smiled. "If not, any juice would be fine. But please, help yourself. We've got your duty roster to finish, and then we have a shuttle trip." She cocked her head to one side. "Do you want anyone else to come along?"

"Tea it is... in fact." He laughed softly as he began to open and close cabinet doors. "I came across this tea... on a station... that tastes... Aha!" He shouted slightly as he reached into the final cabinet and pulled out a wooden box. "I forget where it’s supposed to be from... but its really good." Cyrus filled the tea pot and placed it on a burner, before preparing two tea cups.

"Sounds interesting. I can see that I'm going to learn to enjoy a lot of new things around you." Maya was definitely looking forward to it. He'd made her life better already.

After they finished eating, Maya helped clean up. "Now, let's get to those rosters so we can have a look at the planet."
