Mission: Mission 9 - Unearthing Life
Location: A beach...somewhere
Timeline: MD02 - 1800

Kailani was setting up at the beach. She smiled at Drake as she lay out two large beach towels and a basket. Then she tossed aside the second towel she had around her waist and kicked off her flipflops. Kailani was in a white one piece that was a bit low and tight in the front and high and tight in the rear. She pretended not to be aware of this as she lay out on the towel, stretching her legs. She put her hands behind her head and looked at the sky. "I haven't been on a proper beach in ages, Drake," she opined.

Drake had no top on and wore a blue and gold swimsuit shorts that went from his waist to a few inches above his knees. They had a velcro waist to keep them on his body. He had noticed that Kailani had chosen an alluring white suit to contrast her rich brown skin and it took every bit of willpower he had not to stare at her chest or butt like a deer in the headlights. He knew that she knew what she was doing and he grinned to himself, knowing how lucky he was. Would this have happened without the avian pollen? He did not know. What he did know is that he was grateful to its assistance. "No? Not even on another deep space mission," Drake asked Kailani.

"Space doesn't have nearly as many idyllic beaches as you'd think," she teased, bending her knee and pulling her leg up as she turned her torso slightly. "This planet is almost too good."

Drake grinned at Kailani and gave a quick shake of his head. She was putting on a show and it took everything in his power to not pounce on her without another word. "Are you certain that it is just the planet that is too good and idyllic?" he asked playfully.

"What else?" she asked teasingly, glancing at him and smiling slyly.

Drake smiled at Kailani and without a moment's hesitation answered, "It should be so obvious! The food!" He held a serious look for all of a few seconds before snickers and giggles started to break out.

Kailaini laughed. "I mean...What did we bring?"

"Welllllllllllll," Drake moved towards Kailanti and laid down next to her face to face and said, "I do see something rather delicious in front of me...."

"I appreciate that," she said and leaned in, pressing her lips softly to his for a long, lingering, kiss. She was grinning as she pulled back. "I actually am hungry, you know?"

"I suppose that food is something that should be eaten," Drake replied nonchalantly, still savoring the taste of Kailani's lips. "Let us see what we brought here...." He opened up a bag that contained numerous food items, several that were in a portable, soft ice chest. "None of this is high cuisine, but it will satiate the stomach. Let's see, traditional cookout items: hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers (in case you prefer), s'more ingredients, and oh, what is this?" he asked, as he pulled out a bottle of red wine. "How did that get in there and suspiciously, with two glasses...."

Kailani rolled onto her side. Her eyes moved to the wine and she grinned, "That's very suspicious. So it's red wine and hambugers?"

"Or hot dogs," Drake offered. "And do not forget the s'mores," he insisted with a Cheshire grin. "The wine appears to be a French Merlot. Now, if only there were French Fries to go with it," he continued with a small snicker. "And, who knows what other surprises that this bag may hold...."

Kailani laughed. "Just because they both have French in the name does not mean they pair well!"

"Let's think about that.... I mean, there is French kissing for starters. I think that would pair well with either," he informed Kailani with a self-satisfied and playful grin.

"Do you actually have to say French kiss?" she asked. "It's kinda how everyone kisses, really."

"Is it? Have you seen Caitians kiss?" Drake asked. "Or Andorians?"

"Andorians kiss different?" she asked. "Why don't you give me a Caitian kiss?"

"Are you certain that you want that?" Drake asked, his eyebrows arching upwards.

"We will do it the human way after," she promised him, her smile playful and silly for the moment.

"Alrighty, then.... If you insist!" He moved towards Kailani and stuck out his tongue and licked her from underneath her chin to her nose. He laughed and informed her, "I could continue all the way up and down your face and neck if you want...."

She grinned and giggled. "I thought it was like the nose thing!" Then she kissed him, the human way. "There we go."

"The nose thing? Isn't that an Eskimo kiss?" he asked, wrapping himself around Kailani tightly. "Though, you wonder why they kissed that way. Can't really help warm someone up very well, I would not suspect."

She nestled in. "You do?" she asked and she wriggled her nose cutely.

"I think I do." He felt the rush of heat build within him, now that Kailani was tightly pressed against him. First the teasing with her suit and now this? Were they ever going to be able to do anything besides romance each other on this shoreleave? Did he even care? He gave Kailani and devilish grin. "I'm starting to think that you have another appetite in mind rather than dinner...."

"After dinner," promised Kailani, who actually was hungry. She kissed him and then looked to the food.

"Awwwwww," Drake pouted audibly with a large smile on his face. "I suppose we do need to keep our energy levels up, huh?" He shrugged. "Let me collect some wood and then we'll light a fire to start grilling."

"That sounds wonderful," she said. "But I'm not going to let you do all the work. I'll help."

"With the cooking, the gathering of wood, or both?" Drake asked with innuendo hinted in his grin.

"You gather wood and I'll cook," she suggested. "We can be old fashioned about it."

"Fine," he told Kailani. "I'll be the muscle." He wandered off to start gathering wood, wishing he had beamed down a cart to assist with the task.

"I know," she said, trailing a finger down his arm before turning to the food.

That made Drake smile. Suddenly gathering wood did not seem onerous. The good news was that on an uninhabited planet, gathering dead wood did not take terribly long. He arrived with his arms full of wood and placed it on the ground before Kailani. "Your stove awaits, m'lady."

Kailani laughed. She spent the next hour or so cooking some of the food they had brought with them. She was thoughtful and deliberate. It wasn't something she had done often enough that it came as second nature.

Drarke watched Kailani as she cooked. She seemed rather serious. He deicided that it might be better to lighten things up. "You know, not everyone is born to cook. Personally, I was just born to be the person who talked to the cook."

"Do you talk to every cook?" Kailani asked. Her lips turned up in a teasing smile.

"Oh, no. That would take too much time," Drake replied with a snicker. "So I save myself for the ones that are cooking for me."

"Uh-huh," Kailani said with a roll of her eyes, but she laughed anyway.

"Should we poll the people that aren't cooking for me?" he asked. "I bet all of them would say that I'm talking to none of them right now." He snickered awaiting Kailani's next response.

"Not if you were polling them," Kailani pointed out teasingly. "Then you'd be talking to them."

"Fair statement," Drake responded. "Guess you're going to have to find a way to shut me up, then."

Kailani leaned forward as if she were about to kiss him again. Then she reached down and stuck a graham cracker in his mouth.

"Mmmmm," he told Kalani as he bit the unexpected cracker. "Not bad. Is that what you cooked?" he teased back.

"No," she admitted. "You brought them for the s'mores. What do you want on your hot dog?"

"I did," Drake responded. "But a man can dream, no?" he told her with a giggle. "As to the dog, well, ketchup and mustard will do."

Kailani got the food ready. After all, they might need energy for the rest of the day and night.
