Mission: Mission 7 - Aenerth for an Earth
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 2296/02/28 - 1400

Shri had managed, with Magnus' encouragement, to get to sickbay. She was afraid of what any tests might show, but at the same time, she knew she had to know. In the future, she would have to be more careful and pay attention to different things. But with how close she was to Iona as a friend, this was going to feel a little awkward if she was the one on duty.

Iona walked aimlessly through the sickbay, carrying a clipboard and reading something upon it. She was chewing her lip when she heard the door swish open and she looked up. "Hey Shri, what can I do ya for?"

It has to be Iona on duty, Shri thought to herself and sighed softly. "Hey, Um..." She bit her lip for a moment, "Any chance you can run a test or two for me?"

The door opened a moment later, admitting Magnus into sickbay as well. "Sorry I'm late," he said to Shri. He smiled and nodded to Iona.

Looking between the two, she gestured for them to follow her. She led them into her office and closed the door behind them. "If this is what I think you're after, best to do that in here," Iona said, sitting on her desk and smiling at them, though the smile didn't quite reach her eyes.

Shri sighed softly and glanced to Magnus before following Iona to the office. She didn't feel like sitting and she instead stood against a wall, looking nervous. "So...I take it you figured out why we're here...but yeah, thank you for the privacy, Iona."

Magnus smiled and nodded. "Much appreciated."

"Well, the last time I saw Magnus he was overdue for his birth control injection, and with how awkwardly you were asking for tests," Iona let the rest of the comment go unsaid. "When was your last cycle?" She asked her friend, picking up her tricorder and fiddling with the settings as she waited for Shri to answer.

"Yeah, he told me about that." Shri looked over at Magnus, then back to Iona, "I'm just over a week late from where I should be."

Magnus stayed silent, listening to the doctor and scientist speak. He had nothing to contribute at this stage aside from support.

Iona nodded and looked at the results on her tricorder. She frowned and scanned her friend again. This time she gave a nod. "Well, I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but you are not pregnant." She placed the tricorder on her desk, then leaned her butt against its edge. "My guess is that the stress and radiation of the away mission has caused you to be late. But, if you still haven't had your next cycle in a week's time, come back to see me and we'll investigate further."

Letting out a soft sigh of relief, Shri gave a small smile. "That..actually is good news. You might be right, stress and radiation." She looked to Magnus, "One hell of a scare though."

Iona smiled softly, glad she could give them good news instead of bad. She watched them both for a moment though, and felt a small pang in her heart. Why did this sadden her so much? Seeing them together and happy? She ran a hand through her hair and did her best to look neutral, bordering on happy.

Knowing the look, Shri bit her lip. "Magnus, you mind giving us a minute? I want to talk to Iona."

Magnus smiled and reached across to give Shri’s hand a squeeze. He approached Iona and gave her a friendly hug. “Thank you, Iona, for the good news. You’re the best.” With that, he left the office and headed back to his quarters.

Once Magnus had left, Shri signed. "Iona, I know that look. What's going on?"

"Nothing," Iona waved off Shri's concern. She moved to sit on her desk and smiled at Shri brightly. "I assuaged your fears then?" In her head, she was having a small argument with Vrell over the feelings she was experiencing. Her bright smile never wavered though.

"Iona," Shri said while she shook her head, "Seriously. I'm glad you were able to help me get rid of the fears I had, but you looked...hurt? I think that's the best word for it, when you saw Magnus and I happy together."

"Not hurt," Iona said with a shake of her head. "A bit sad, yes, but not hurt. You two deserve each other." She chewed her lip for a second. "Did Magnus tell you about... the night he and I met?"

Shri shook her head but then raised an eyebrow. "No but...oh." She frowned. "You two? Probably before he and I..."

"Yeah... I was kind of buzzed, not drunk, but less inhibitions than usual," Iona shrugged. "It was nothing, well, lots of fun, but meant nothing. I'm just sad that I'm losing a good... partner," she chose her words carefully. "I mean, I'm excited for you two! I really am! I just... didn't want the fun to end after only one romp." She tried to look innocent, but failed. "And before I could try to convince you that women are just as fun as men..." The look completely failed and she just looked cheeky now.

Shri bit her lip, "Convince me women are just as fun as men? That...hmm.." She thought for a moment and sighed. "I..don't want you to lose a fun partner but, I don't know what Magnus will say to all that. We haven't really said we're official or anything but we've gone on dates and such."

Laughing, Iona shook her head. "Don't worry about it Shri, I'm sure it will all work out for all of us, no matter what happens. We are all still friends," she said with a nod. Watching Shri's reaction had been quite entertaining and she liked the feeling of getting under Shri's skin. "Hey, why don't we plan a game or movie night sometime? The three of us, maybe a fourth if I can find a suitable partner."

Resisting the urge to stick her tongue out at Iona, Shri shook her head, "I think that'll be fun. But, maybe avoid any games with the word 'strip' in them?" She couldn't help but laugh. "Three or four person game night could be fun. And now that I'm not stressing about what we came in here for in the first place, I can breathe a little easier."

"Aww c'mon! You don't wanna see me naked?" Iona pretended to be offended at this. "You're just no fun!"

"Oh I'm plenty of fun!" Shri gave in and stuck her tongue out.

Tempted to be bad, Iona actually bit her lip, but didn't move. "Not with me you aren't!" She grinned and bopped Shri on the nose. "You're giving Magnus all your fun!"

Gasping in fun, Shri bopped Iona on the nose back. "My goodness, I don't think you're jealous of Magnus being with me, I think you're jealous of me being with Magnus."

Laughing, Iona shook her head. "No, I'm jealous of you both! I lose all my fun with you two going exclusive with each other!" She grinned devilishly. "But I can still flirt, can't I?"

Smirking, Shri kissed Iona's cheek before turning to leave, "Oh, I suppose flirting can still be fun."

"Cheeky girl, I love it!" Iona said as she watched Shri start to leave. "I'd tell you not to do anything I wouldn't do, but that's not a whole lot, so have fun and be safe!" She added, before Shri exited the office.

Iona followed her out and watched her leave, still smiling with amusement. She then went into the sickbay proper and went back to what she'd been doing before. Not that she was able to really concentrate on the clipboard's document anymore.
